What is a Nurse Practitioner?
A Nurse Practitioner (NP) is an advanced practice nurse with specialist training, extensive clinical experience, and postgraduate qualifications in their area of practice.
At Berry Mountain Mental Health, care is provided by a Nurse Practitioner with over 15 years’ experience in Child and Adolescent Mental Health, supported by a Master of Nurse Practitioner qualification. This background allows for comprehensive, evidence-based assessment and treatment tailored specifically to the needs of young people and their families.

Following completion of a Bachelor of Nursing, Georgina undertook further postgraduate study, including:
Graduate Diploma in Child and Adolescent Mental Health

As a Nurse Practitioner, Georgina is a primary healthcare provider. This means you do not require a referral and you do not need a Mental Health Care Plan to access appointments. There is also no limit of 10 sessions when claiming through Medicare.
As Nurse Practitioners are able to prescribe medication, there is no need to see a second practitioner for medication management should this be required.
This all helps to streamline the access to evidenced based, effective care.
